Jabalbina is hosting CYPAL Community Information Meetings for Eastern Kuku Yalanji bama.These meetings are to inform Traditional Owners of National Parks CYPAL and the processes that are involved.

NOTICE OF MEETING

TO ALL ABORIGINAL PEOPLE WHO CLAIM TO HOLD NATIVE TITLE OR INTEREST OVER THE FOLLOWING LANDS:

The State is proposing to convert existing national parks to jointly managed national park and return ownership and management of land to Aboriginal Traditional Owners. The national parks are all within the outer boundary of the 2007 Eastern Kuku Yalanji ILUA Q12006/026 area and include:


  • Daintree National Park
  • Ngalba Bula National Park
  • Black Mountain National Park: and
  • Hope Island National Park


You are cordially invited to attend a meeting convened by the Jabalbina Yalanji Aboriginal Corporation and Department of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships (Cape York Peninsula Tenure Resolution Program). The meeting will be held to discuss the proposal by the State of Queensland to commence negotiations with a view to returning ownership and joint management of land to Aboriginal Traditional Owners . An outcome of the series of meetings is to appoint an Eastern Kuku Yalanji Traditional Owner Negotiation Committee. The land proposed for transfer is generally located from Mossman south to Black Mountain National Park. Maps of the areas will be available at the meetings.

Traditional owner groups claiming to hold Native Title in the lands proposed for transfer and joint management are encouraged to attend one of the meetings.
